Overnight Vision Correction Is Now A Reality

It was said that the ancient Chinese used to sleep with sand bags over their eyes to improve their vision and opticians have long known that a side effect of wearing rigid lenses is briefly having good vision after removing them. This led to the search for a way to prolong the effect and the science, known as Orthokeratology or Ortho-k (ortho= straight; keratology= relating to the cornea) was born. Whilst you may never have heard of ortho-k before, it has been around since the 1960s and you can read more about it in the News.

Overnight Vision Correction (OVC) is the modern day equivalent of Orthokeratology and there have been three significant breakthroughs to make the patented i-GO OVC contact lenses a unique new solution for short-sightedness.

  • Computerised Corneal Topography - enabling opticians to generate a very accurate map of the eye surface.
  • Advanced Computer Controlled Lathes - which can machine lenses to a sub-micron accuracy from these diagnostic maps .
  • New Lens Materials - with a very high oxygen permeability (developed by Bausch and Lomb) allowing lenses to be worn safely overnight.
  • Could you enjoy freedom from contact lenses during the day? Find out if you are suitable for Overnight Vision Correction.
