Avoid hassle when playing sports with ortho k lenses   |   02.12.2009

William Gallas
William Gallas managed to take to the football pitch in Arsenal's Premier League match against Chelsea on Sunday despite an eye injury.

The Frenchman who scored a controversial goal in France's World Cup qualifier with Ireland, recently had to leave the pitch at half time in Arsenal's Champions' League victory over Standard Liege after a clash of heads with team mate Andre Arshavin.

He was substituted because of the swollen eye and also an ankle injury – but it was the eye which left him doubtful for the crucial clash.

Before the match Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said: "I cannot say that William Gallas will play, unfortunately. The ankle should be alright but the eye is still very, very, very swollen."

"He wears contact lenses and at the moment he would not get them in," he added.

People who play sports where there is a chance of sustaining an eye injury could eliminate the problem of having to wear contact lenses in sore eyes during the day by giving ortho k contact lenses a try.

A bump to the head in a sports match could dislodge or aggravate contact lenses putting the player at a disadvantage – and glasses are simply not an option for many sportspeople as they could break or fall whilst playing.

Ortho k contact lenses reshape the cornea overnight allowing athletes to be able to see clearly during the day without needing to wear any eyewear.

As ortho k contact lenses are worn at night and taken out during a game, they can be a great alternative to day wear contact lenses.
