Tchoukball player given contact lens supply
The player of an obscure sport has gained a sponsorship deal for a trip to Taiwan.

Martin Cates from Sudbury in Suffolk has been sponsored by an optician who has given him a two-month supply of contact lenses for the international tchoukball championships on the island, Suffolk Free Press reports.

He told the newspaper: "I am very excited about the games because it is the biggest event I am ever going to be involved in."

Tchoukball was developed in the 1970s by a Swiss biologist and sees teams of nine play on a court to score points by hitting a trampoline with a ball.

Although an obscure sport, European championships have been won by the United Kingdom twice, in 2001 and 2006.

As with all sports players sight is important, but had Mr Cates heard of ortho k lenses they could have been a great option for him.

Worn overnight, he would not need to worry about wearing lenses during a game, which could become lodged in the eye or fall out - a worry for all sports players.

Ortho k lenses is also a great option for any athlete who wants to avoid the dangers of laser eye surgery.
