The issue has been highlighted by Ivan Penn, writing for the St Petersburg Times in Florida, who has noted a Consumer Reports study that found that 55 per cent of Americans who undertake eye laser surgery still sometimes need glasses or lenses.
According to the publication, Dr John Santa, director at the Consumer Reports Health Ratings Centre said: "Laser vision correction surgery is a largely unchecked industry and consumers need to know the right questions to ask."
