Asia-Pacific contact lens market growing fast   |   15.09.2009

Countries in the Asia-Pacific region are among the fastest-growing contact lens markets.

That is according to Business Standard, which has said that a number of businesses are now looking to crack the Indian market.

However, there is a low penetration of contact lens products in the region, with only five per cent of the population using them.

It is believed that part of the reason for the lack of penetration is due to the not knowing about the benefits and the worry of putting something in the eye.

Ortho k lenses are one area that many are likely to be unfamiliar with.

The overnight correction lenses are only worn while asleep, so anyone that has worries about them falling out during the day or constantly needing attention while at work or school can put their concerns aside.

They are a potentially great alternative to eye laser surgery also, due to the fact that they are not invasive or permanent.
