Busy, stressed mums should consider ortho k
Many working mothers are finding that they cannot complete everyday tasks due to a deterioration in vision.

That is the finding of a study by Walker communications for Working Mother Magazine, which has found that 86 per cent of mothers over the age of 35 are concerned about their vision.

Ortho k lenses could be the answer to their problems, should they be wondering how to deal with the issue.

Doctor Susan Resnick, commenting on the issue, said: "Visual challenges with near-point tasks are signs and symptoms of presbyopia, a common vision condition in which the natural lens of the eye gradually loses flexibility."

Around 90 million people in the US currently suffer with the problem or will develop it by 2014.

Visual problems were found to have psychological effects on women, with 61 per cent claiming to feel frustrated while nearly half suggested that it made them physically uncomfortable due to eye strain.

Nearly a third claimed that it made them feel like they were less able to perform tasks.

Ortho k could be the answer in the form of monovision.

Overnight vision correction lenses can be used to correct the sight on a dominant eye and lead to the problem being sorted.

Although it takes an average of around a week for the brain to adjust, it can be a great way of dealing with the problem.

For stressed, working mothers, it could help boost confidence and reduce headaches.

Ortho k lenses are worn at night while asleep and removed in the morning, meaning that the wearer can be free of any visual aids in the day - something else that is likely to reduce stress in busy mothers.
