Night time contact lenses help British woman see normally   |   20.05.2009

A British woman has noted the benefits of Ortho-k lenses and suggested that she now can't wait for her summer holiday thanks to them.

Pam Hall, a 53-year-old from Ripponden, has told Halifax's Evening Courier that the night time contact lenses have helped her "shed at least 20 years".

"They are a wonderful invention," Ms Hall said. "My day to day life is so much easier. My distant vision is absolutely brilliant and I can walk around the supermarket and read the labels… without needing my glasses."

She now adds that she cannot wait to go on holiday to Greece later this year so that she can do normal vacation activities.

"It will be amazing to get up in the morning and go swimming or hit the beach without the hassle of glasses or lenses," she added.

Optician Nick Howard, who has worked in the profession for around 30 years, said that Ortho-k lenses are an exciting development in the eye health world and that he has seen people "jump for joy" because of the impact the treatment has.
